Baby Elle

C.A.R.E. is working to help support the family of Lyon Real Estate agent Steve Pop.  Below is a message distributed by his office about the efforts to help Baby Elle.  Now you can learn more on Facebook.

You may be aware that one of our own, Steve Pop, is in a family crisis.   Steve and his wife Rebecca welcomed a new baby, Elizabeth Cady Pop, in December 2009.  Baby Elle, as we call her, was born with a rare disease known as Epidemolysis Bullosa.   She has the most extreme form of this terrible disease, which means that even the gentlest touch will blister her skin.  This happens to her not only externally, but internally as well.  She suffers extreme pain daily.

Baby Elle requires intensive round the clock care.  Family and friends throughout the past few months have volunteered to help in a number of ways.   Many of you have signed up to take meals to their home, and it has been greatly appreciated.  The medical bills Steve and Rebecca face are extensive and continue to grow.

Baby Elle has been accepted into a clinical trial at University of Minnesota Medical Center, the only hospital in the country currently doing research for a cure.   They have found matching donors and are ready to proceed with treatment!  This procedure will cost over $1 million.  Although insurance and the hospital will cover most of the cost, the family is in need.

The Pop family is in major need of support of all kinds, but most especially financial support.   We are asking for donations to help the family, not only with additional medical expenses, but also with the money needed for travel to Minnesota this August.  Additional costs include: living expenses, ongoing insurance through the duration of baby Elle’s treatment, expensive wound care supplies before and after treatment, daycare for the Pop family’s other child, and unforeseen costs.

Any amount you can donate will be greatly appreciated.  Donations are tax deductible if paid by check or credit card to C.A.R.E (Catastrophic Aid for Real Estate).  Please give these to Randy Randazzo with Vitek Mortgage, who can be reached at (916) 601-7091.

For questions, please contact Barbara LaSalle at (916) 505-5110.  Barbara has formed an Outreach.

The true meaning of community is demonstrated during times like these when people come together to support those in need.  Thank you so much for helping one of our own!
